Our Mission 

The mission of Andulhea Heritage Center is to collect, preserve, research, publish and exhibit objects, artifacts and documents relating to this area. 

We strive to inspire interest in the history and cultural heritage of the people past and present living in the Tulpehocken and Bethel Townships and the surrounding area for the benefit of the public. We  accomplish this mission with public educational programs, exhibitions, lectures and workshops. Memorabilia and items of historic interest from the following areas will be accepted: Rehrersburg, Mt. Aetna, Bethel, Frystown, Strausstown, New Schaefferstown, Shartlesville, Bernville and any other village or hamlet in Tulpehocken, Upper Tulpehocken, Bethel, Jefferson or Penn Townships, Pennsylvania. The name Andulhea comes from Richard Pennʼs Manor of Andulhea (Andolhea)  which was located in this geographic area. A map showing the tract is undated, but is believed to have been surveyed about 1741. The name Andulhea is an Indian name meaning “between two streams”, the Tulpehocken/Schuylkill and the Swatara/Susquehanna watersheds.
